At Birch Counseling, we’re committed to transparency and respect. Below are the key policies that guide our work together.
Payment
We accept all major credit cards for payment. Sessions are billed at the agreed-upon rate, and payment is due at the time of service.
Cancellation Policy
Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged the full self-pay rate of $125. Insurance does not cover missed appointments.
Good Faith Estimate
Under federal law, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the cost of services if you’re uninsured or not using insurance. You’ll receive this in writing at least one business day before your first session.
For more details, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
Telephone Accessibility
While I make every effort to respond to calls promptly, I do not provide 24/7 coverage. For emergencies or crisis situations, call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
Electronic Communication
Text and email may be used for scheduling purposes only and may not be secure. Please avoid discussing clinical matters electronically. Telehealth services are available and follow HIPAA guidelines. You may request or withdraw consent for telehealth at any time.
Social Media Policy
To protect the therapeutic relationship, I do not accept personal social media requests. You’re welcome to view any public, professional resources I provide through Birch Counseling platforms.
Minors
If you’re under 18, your parent or guardian may have access to certain information. We’ll discuss together what’s appropriate to share while maintaining your privacy in therapy.
Ending Therapy
Termination is part of the therapeutic process and will be discussed together. If therapy is not effective or if multiple sessions are missed without communication, I may suggest ending treatment or provide referrals for continued support.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Your privacy is important. All health information shared with Birch Counseling is protected under HIPAA. Your rights and confidentiality details will be reviewed with you before your first session.
